Who We Are

Eva Ritvo, MD

Eva Ritvo, MD, a psychiatrist with 29 years’ experience practicing in Miami Beach, Florida, is the author of Bekindr - The Transformative Power of Kindness and the founder of the Bekindr Global Initiative,  a movement to bring more kindness in the world.

She is also the co-founder of the Bold Beauty Project (BBP), a nonprofit that pairs women with disabilities with award-winning photographers to create art exhibitions to raise awareness.

Co-author of The Beauty Prescription and The Concise Guide to Marriage and Family Therapy.

Debra Luftman, MD

Debra began developing her interest in science and aesthetics while an undergraduate at the University of California San Diego, where she majored in biology and minored in art history. She then traveled to Europe to pursue her artistic interests and studied at St. Andrews University in Scotland. After returning to this country, she attended and graduated medical school at Tufts University and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Dermatology at UCLA. She has been board certified in Dermatology since 1996.

Dr. Luftman co-authored The Beauty Prescription book with Dr. Ritvo, which was published by McGraw Hill in 2008, and was a coauthor on the academic book, Glycolic Acid Peels, 2002.

Dr. Luftman’s conviction is that beauty is more than skin deep. Health, beauty, the environment and emotional wellness make a complete picture. Her fulfillment lies in being able to treat and educate patients, and she loves spending time with them as much as keeping up with technology and research.

Zoe Lipman

Zoe is a medical student and aspiring dermatologist currently pursuing a research fellowship within the Robert Frost Department of Dermatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Graduating from Duke University in 2017 with degrees in neuroscience and psychology, Zoe has always been passionate about the intersection between the one's psyche and their outer appearance/actions, specifically as it relates to self-esteem and self-empowerment.

After meeting Dr. Ritvo through volunteering with an organization called The Bold Beauty Project, Zoe was introduced to The Beauty Prescription book and immediately saw its potential for helping others recognize their own potential in a broader audience.

Take a common passion for beauty + the expertise of 2 leading physicians in their fields + the "savvy" technology skills of a millennial = WAH-LA! The Beauty Prescription Blog was born!

Between our differing ages, expertises, years of training, geographical locations, and life experiences we have a vast diversity of knowledge to share. However, we recognize that based solely off of our photos, this diversity may not be immediately apparent (and no, we are not all related). We aim to feature a wide and diverse range of perspectives and ideas on this site, but we acknowledge that our ability to do so alone is limited by our own experiences. As our community grows, we hope to bring new voices and contributors on board to provide perspectives different from our own. We also hope that you feel comfortable sharing your perspectives and ideas with us as we go on this journey together so that we can grow The Beauty Prescription community into one that is diverse, welcoming, accepting, and inspiring to all.
